Not promising that the followup to that said that they couldn't get 9 to work on 10.5 with the fix. The post talks about Pro and Distiller ... the file for Reader is RdrENU90SelfHeal.xml and is discussed at http://lists.apple.com/archives/client-management/2008/Dec/msg00099.html I couldn't get it to work.
