[MacTUG] file converter question

Hi Folks,

 

A quick question for the MAC gurus out there.

What is the recommended converter utility to move a large directory (450MB)
of mostly word and excel files (older and newer versions of office)  from
the MAC OS X 10.3.9 to a PC with Windows XP?  

 

Ideally the converter would 

1-      Remove unwanted characters from the file name

2-      Add the appropriate PC extension

3-      Not cost a fortune
