Lectureship In Applied Mathematics or Theoretical/Mathematical Physics

[Closing date: 23 April 2015]

Applications are invited for a lectureship in Applied Mathematics or
Theoretical / Mathematical Physics, tenable from 01 October 2015 or a date
to be agreed. A lectureship is similar to an assistant professorship in
Northern America.

We seek an outstanding researcher and teacher from any area of applied
mathematics, theoretical or mathematical physics who will be expected to
develop an internationally leading independent research programme as well as
to undertake teaching and administrative duties as appropriate. The post
will be held in the School of Mathematics within the Applied Mathematics
group. We seek applicants whose research further broadens and expands upon
the strengths of the existing group.
We would particularly welcome applications in the areas of quantum
information theory, scientific computation or mathematical biology.

The Applied Mathematics Group at the University of Bristol is
internationally recognised with interests spanning applied mathematics and
mathematical/theoretical physics, including quantum chaos, fluid mechanics,
mathematical material science, quantum information, statistical mechanics,
dynamical systems and random matrix theory. The Group has strong links with
the Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical Research, which focuses on discrete
mathematics and funds about 20 postdoctoral fellows in the School of
Mathematics.

The School of Mathematics is a supporter of the LMS Good Practice Scheme
aiming at advancing women's careers in mathematics
http://www.maths.bris.ac.uk/admin/life/women/. We particularly welcome
applications from women for this post. The University has numerous family
friendly policies which can be found on the Positive Working Environment
website http://www.bris.ac.uk/pwe/

For informal enquiries please contact Prof Tanniemola Liverpool
(t.liverpool at bristol.ac.uk), or Prof Noah Linden, Head of Mathematics
(hod-maths at bristol.ac.uk).

The University of Bristol is committed to equality and we value the
diversity of our staff and students.

For more details, and to apply, please follow the link from

http://www.bristol.ac.uk/maths/

The closing date for applications is 23 April 2015.
