[MacTUG] Data recovery services for Mac-formatted external drive

Hi Mike,

Something else to maybe consider trying is taking the actual drive out of the external case and trying it in another case or with a USB to SATA cable.
Sometimes the issue is with the case electronics or such.

They may want to consider trying to do a software recovery first on the drive. Most of them allow you to try them free first and see what they can recover.

I would suggest Disk Drill https://www.cleverfiles.com/ first. But there are others out there.

Howdy,
Inquiring on behalf of another staff member. They have an external drive that's been acting up, and are wondering where might be a good place to have it diagnosed once we've eliminated "is it their actual Mac that's the issue." I haven't seen the drive yet myself, but the symptoms described make it seem like it's probably the drive, rather than their iMac. Anywhere local-ish that folks know to not suck?

Thanks,

Mike
