What is happening? Information added to WCMS websites on September 4 and September 5 may be lost.

Why did this happen? Due to the MC power outage, databases in the MC data centre were shut down, leaving only EC2 databases available for the WCMS during the outage. Once the power outage was complete and services were beginning to be restored, a misconfiguration resulted in data being written to the databases that were previously turned off before replication was restored. When replication was restored this data was lost.

Who does this impact? Potentially anyone whose live (production) WCMS website had content added or received web form submissions between September 4 and September 5.

Questions or concerns? Please submit to rt-ist-wcms at rt.uwaterloo.ca<mailto:rt-ist-wcms at rt.uwaterloo.ca> or the IST Service Desk, helpdesk at uwaterloo.ca<mailto:helpdesk at uwaterloo.ca>, ext. 44357.
