It is possible and easily doable but I have found it a bit of a pain. If you download everything it is really EVERYTHING. I remember doing it once and found that my drive was filling up with 1GB “combined updates” for really old OSes, updates for final cut pro 3 etc etc. I did a cocktail napkin calculation and realized for the 100 or so macs I look after that I would not really save much bandwidth

    This makes me wonder - can we mirror the MacApp Store - at least for OS'es?  This would do two things:
    1) ensure we have ongoing access to needed files
    2) allow us to download from a local source, thereby saving on external bandwidth and speeding up that access locally.
