[MacTUG] Create User Package

Ya those all are the same critter.

I was noticing the security issues and the 10.13 lack of support since SHA1 will not be supported.

Currently I don’t need to worry about local admins as I just “burn” on into my base image I use for deploying. But my focus these days is from moving away from a ‘nuke and reimage’ model, and would like to be prepared for if and when we cannot reimage out OSes but are merely adding to the Apple imaged device.

Although I think I have heard of some folks reimaging High Sierra (beta) computers – which with APFS (which was supposed to be impossible), so we will see.

Looks like the same as this:

http://magervalp.github.io/CreateUserPkg/

and here https://github.com/MagerValp/CreateUserPkg

which is what we've used since we switched to Casper Suite

and note:

10.13 doesn't appear to support SHA1 passwords anymore, and this project needs to be updated to create PBKDF2 passwords

This app “Create User Package” looks interesting. All it does it that it creates a local account with a password, but wraps this up in a package. I am kind of surprised that apple lets it be on the apple store as it usually does not host such scary apps that fiddles with things that the OS (or official utilities) normally looks after (think deploystudio or carbon copy cloner)

I don’t know how I use it but as I think about DEP and installing software on fresh out of the box devices, it could be useful
