For sure you should not be getting that if you are asking for username and password unless something else is sticking its nose into it.

Danni, I tried what you suggested and it does not work on my 10.8.4 mac. Here is what I get:

kropotkin:~ dsmccrac$     sudo defaults read /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow SHOWFULLNAME
2013-07-05 13:43:02.334 defaults[24383:a07]
The domain/default pair of (/Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow, SHOWFULLNAME) does not exist

I wonder if that does not work with 10.8 mac as it is info that came out in the time of 10.6. So ya, Lowell, what OS is it, is AD involved (I guess not or there would likely be an 'Other' user.
