Printer Status problem with Xerox Phaser 8560DX printer
Problem
Xerox Phaser 8560DX printer will send a "Printer Status" job every time a d=
ocument is printed. When it's installed from Nexus (nxsartsapp) the "Printe=
r Status" job get stuck in the queue.
Solution
To fix this problem remove the line starting with *cupsCommands from the pr=
inter's definition file. The printer definition file is located in /etc/cup=
s/ppd/ and it's named after the printer's name with extension .ppd
To remove the line:
1. Open Terminal by going to Finder Menu/Go/Utilities then double-click =
Terminal
2. Remove the line starting with *cupsCommands (line 24) from the printe=
r definition file:
For printer NXSARTSAPP-p_aco_bw:
sudo sed -e s/^*cupsCommands.*$// -i .backup /etc/cups/ppd/NXSARTSAPP_p_aco=
_bw.ppd
Done

Subject: Re: [MacTUG] New Xerox printers and 10.8???!!!???
I should add as a bit of a curiosity...
I initially assumed it was any xerox printer that used that driver (quite a=
few) including the printers Don mentioned, the 3635MFP's and the 7535/45 s=
eries as well...
What's interesting is the 3635's work just fine through equitrac... It woul=
d seem that the drivers expect/allow some sort of bi-directional communicat=
ion that fails as soon as equitrac is used to communicate in between the pr=
inter and the client. I guess the 3635s aren't sophisticated enough for thi=
s and therefore they work fine.
Don if you setup your printers through the windows sharing tab they work fi=
ne but they tend to require the user to re-authenticate every time they wan=
t to print which is super annoying.
It's only LDP printing that causes those "Printer Status" jobs to appear.
I was hoping IPP printing would fix this but the IPP implementation is supe=
r broken in OS X it seems (at least authenticated IPP printing)
I'm still playing with this to find a better solution as time allows.

Hi Don,
Same thing happens for me, it's to do with printing through an equitrac que=
ue, they work fine (for me) until you bring equitrac into the picture.
So far xerox support has been less than helpful with this issue.

Do you have the latest driver? I know there was a problem with an older ver=
sion of the driver, which didn't support accounting, but that has been fixe=
d in the latest driver I am told.

This is a problem we are having in Arts for the the 8560 when a workstation=

Looking into the Printer definitions I found how to removed the "Print=

Note this is a nasty hack that will eventually be overwritten by future Xer=
