[MacTUG] Is Fink still the way to go?

A new mac user wants some advice about what the best package management option is for command line stuff in OS X

I use to play around a bit with Fink. Is it still the way to go? I think Macports is still around. Has anyone had recent experience with these guys or now of other package installers for unix tools?
