Well that seems complicated, and I do not know why they did that (but I have a few of those about Lion, haha) but I think that is likely the way, Glenn

Subject: [MacTUG] Lion's ( 10.7 ) Textedit "save as"

I was asked about how to do a "Save As" with Textedit under Lion, as the "Save As" option no longer appears under the File menu.
The user was wanting to take the document, and do a "save as" to convert the document to a different type of document. This is quite common, as this would allow one to open a word document/web document and then save it as a simple text one.

This is the solution I came up with, does anyone have a better one?

step 1) Do a "Duplicate" under the file menu

Step 2) Do a Save

Step 3) Then choose the appropriate file type, location, etc.
