[MacTUG] Help: Keyboard inactive in single-user mode

Hi,

When I go into single user-mode for one of our G5 xserve's, the cap 
locks key remains highlighted and any characters typed into the 
keyboard is not displayed. Any ideas.

Details:
- using an Apple keyboard for a G5 desktop
- I used the same usb port as on the other xserve, which worked fine
- when I fully reboot, the keyboard is responsive and I can log in as usual

... help!
