The Quantum Internet; Charting the Critical Path

Workshop Dates: June 21-23, 2018
Location: University of Toronto
Organizing committee: Paul Brumer, Amr S. Helmy, Daniel James, Hoi-Kwong Lo,
Norbert Lutkenhaus, William Munro, Li Qian, Aephraim Steinberg

Scope:
The scope of this workshop encompasses many of the most pressing issues that
must be addressed to help define what The Quantum Internet can be, and what
are the critical milestones required for its inception. There are many
transformational opportunities that motivate investing in significant
research which realizes physical processes and hence systems that can
empower quantum nodes that are linked by quantum channels. The solutions to
address these issues include emerging technologies of quantum devices and
components, novel device concepts to help transition some of the existing
quantum functions from the lab into the field, as well as new approaches in
the fields of encryption, control and signal processing.

The conference will run for 3 days, and will involve a mix of Keynote talks,
and posters, interspersed with coffee breaks and discussion panels. The
meeting will involve researchers at all stages of their careers, including
participation by graduate students; some fellowships will be made available
to help defray students' travel expenses.

Registration by email (a.helmy at utoronto.ca) is mandatory and a registration
fee of $50 CAD will be collected on site from no-speaking participants.
Poster submissions and travel grants are also carried out by email
(a.helmy at utoronto.ca).
