*Q-turn: quantum information workshop in Florianapolis (Brazil) -- Nov 26 -
Nov 30*

Dear colleagues,

We are happy to announce "Q-turn: changing paradigms in quantum science",
a new quantum information series --> Kickoff meeting: Florianopolis,
Brazil, 26th to 30th of November 2018:
https://qturnworkshop.wixsite.com/2018
https://twitter.com/QTurnWorkshop
https://www.facebook.com/QTurnWorkshop

The last few years have witnessed an impressive number of contributions to
the field of quantum information. The range of themes and topics has
expanded, as has our community.

Q-turn welcomes contributed talks and poster submissions in all areas of
quantum information theory, as well as fields that intersect with quantum
information. The fields covered will include: quantum information (e.g.
cryptography, error correction, tomography, entanglement theory, many-body
theory); quantum foundations (e.g. correlations, causality, generalised
probabilistic theories, quantum thermodynamics, quantum gravity); quantum
computation (e.g. simulation, algorithms, quantum complexity theory).

As well as a scientific program, Q-turn will feature talks and discussions
on issues that affect the quantum information community, ranging from
diversity and inclusion, health and mental health, to workers' rights.

Q-turn is proudly supported by FQXi, IQC, Microsoft Research, IQOQI Vienna,
Freie Universitaet Berlin and ETH Zurich. A generous amount of travel
support will be available.

The workshop program and key deadlines are included below.

Looking forward to seeing you in Florianopolis,
Juani Bermejo-Vega, Yelena Guryanova, Ana Belen Sainz (steering committee)
Barbara Amaral, Fernando de Melo (program committee chairs)
Renne Luiz Camara Medeiros de Araujo, Susane Calegari (local organizing
committee)

Submissions
***************
Prospective speakers and poster presenters are invited to submit extended
abstracts. These should consist on a 3 page description of the work and
include a link to a separate published paper or preprint.

Travel support
*******************
Financial support is available for a number of participants. Preference
will be given early-career researchers, as well as scientists that belong
to underrepresented groups in quantum information. Requests for funds for
diversity or inclusion related purposes (e.g., parental support) are
generally welcome. Funding decisions will be made by September 28th. Check
our webpage for further information about the reviewing process.
