Hi Daniel,

Would you be willing to publicize a couple of quantum information postdocs
on your mailing list? One is for multiple sites and the other two are at
Stanford. I’ll send the two Stanford ones in a separate email.

Many thanks!

Patrick

It from Qubit, the Simons Collaboration on Quantum Fields, Gravity, and
Information, anticipates appointing up to 12 postdoctoral fellows across
the following locations:

   - Dorit Aharonov <http://www.cs.huji.ac.il/~doria/> (Jerusalem)
   - Vijay Balasubramanian
   <http://www.sas.upenn.edu/~vbalasub/public-html/Home.html> (UPenn)
   - Horacio Casini <http://fisica.cab.cnea.gov.ar/particulas/User:Casini>
    (Bariloche)
   - Patrick Hayden <http://web.stanford.edu/~phayden/> and Leonard Susskind
   <https://profiles.stanford.edu/leonard-susskind> (Stanford)
   - Matthew Headrick <http://people.brandeis.edu/~headrick/> (Brandeis)
   - Alex Maloney <http://www.physics.mcgill.ca/~maloney/> (McGill)
   - Don Marolf <http://web.physics.ucsb.edu/~marolf/> and Joseph Polchinski
   <http://www.kitp.ucsb.edu/joep/> (UCSB / KITP)
   - Rob Myers <https://perimeterinstitute.ca/people/robert-myers>
    (Perimeter)
   - Jonathan Oppenheim <http://www.ucl.ac.uk/oppenheim/> (University
   College London)
   - John Preskill <http://www.theory.caltech.edu/~preskill/> (Caltech)
   - Tadashi Takayanagi
   <http://www2.yukawa.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~tadashi.takayanagi/eindex.html>
    (Kyoto)
   - Mark Van Raamsdonk <http://www.phas.ubc.ca/~mav/vanraamsdonk.html>
    (UBC)

Other members of the collaboration include:

   - Scott Aaronson <http://www.scottaaronson.com/> (MIT)
   - Juan Maldacena
   <https://www.ias.edu/people/faculty-and-emeriti/maldacena> (IAS)

The goals of the collaboration are to bring together leading researchers in
fundamental physics and quantum information theory and to build a new
scientific community to investigate such issues as the emergence of
spacetime, the quantum mechanics of black holes, and the
information-theoretic structure of field theories. Candidates already
working at the quantum information/fundamental physics interface are
encouraged to apply, as are candidates wishing to expand or transition
their research into this subfield from related areas. Fellows will be
expected to participate in Collaboration meetings and to travel one month
per year to other It from Qubit sites. Fellows will also have the
opportunity to pursue their own research programs in related areas. Fellows
will benefit from the strong activities in high-energy theory,
gravitational theory, condensed-matter theory, and quantum computing found
at collaborating institutions. More information about the Collaboration and
its research goals can be found in this overview:
http://web.stanford.edu/~phayden/simons/overview.pdf.

Applications should consist of a CV, list of publications, summary of
research interests, and three letters of recommendation. Applicants must
have received the Ph.D. degree prior to beginning the appointment. The
cover letter should explain how the Fellow will contribute to the goals of
the Collaboration as stated above. Fellows will have a single principal
mentor and institution, but extended visits to other It from Qubit sites
will be encouraged and supported. Applicants are welcome to indicate their
preferred It From Qubit site(s). For full consideration, applications
should be received by November 15, 2015 at
http://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/6496.
