*Subject:* postdoc positions at Oxford and Edinburgh
Dear Colleagues,
Oxford and Edinburgh are currently advertising three postdoc positions in
quantum information theory, each for two years, with extension to four
years depending on funding. The closing date is 19th January, with
interviews in early February. Please do pass this on to any relevant lists,
or people who may be interested.
Many thanks, Jon

We are pleased to announce the opening of three full-time postdoctoral
positions at the University of Oxford and University of Edinburgh as
part of the Networked Quantum Information Technologies (NQIT) EPSRC
Quantum Technology Hub. The Hub will take some of the UK’s
world-leading experimental work in ion traps and photonic networks and
translate it into quantum computing technology through a highly
ambitious and multidisciplinary programme.
The positions are within the theory groups of Prof Abramsky (Oxford),
Dr Barrett (Oxford) and Dr Kashefi (Edinburgh), focusing on the areas
of small-scale quantum computing, secure communications, and the
verification of quantum technology. The work will support the overall
theory, design, and applications development for quantum computing
systems developed within the NQIT hub. The successful candidates will
be contributing to the research project plan as well as collaborating
with other groups, including leading experimental groups within the
NQIT.
To apply you must have or shortly be expecting to obtain, a doctoral
degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, or a related
discipline. You should also have a proven record of research,
including strong publications, in at least one of the areas of quantum
algorithms, quantum cryptography, quantum verification or high-level
notations for quantum computation; a willingness to collaborate with
experimental groups; excellent scientific writing ability and good
communication skills; willingness to travel internationally.
The posts are initially offered for a fixed term of 2 years, with the
possibility of extension for a further 2 years depending on funding.
The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 19 January 2015.
Interviews for all three positions will be held in Oxford in early
February 2015.
*Candidates who wish to be considered both for a post at Edinburgh and
for a post at Oxford will be interviewed only once, but need to submit
separate applications using the links below.*
