Description

The quantum computation and information group at the University of
Bristol is seeking to fill a number of post-doctoral positions of two
years’ duration, open to those with research interests in theoretical
aspects of quantum information, quantum computation and foundations of
quantum mechanics. You should have a strong background and excellent
record in quantum information science and have or be near to
completing a relevant PhD. Pro-activity and willingness to work
co-operatively in a team are also essential.

The posts are funded by the European Commission, the John Templeton
Foundation, the European Research Council (ERC) and the EPSRC and will
begin on 1 February 2012 or later by mutual agreement. Staff members
in the theory group are: Sandu Popescu (Physics), Noah Linden
(Mathematics), Karoline Wiesner (Mathematics) and Andreas Winter
(Mathematics). For a description of the group, see the group homepage
http://www.cs.bris.ac.uk/Research/QuantumComputing/. You will be based
either in the School of Physics or the School of Mathematics, by
mutual agreement.

Applicants should arrange for three referees to send letters of
recommendation directly to Professor Sandu Popescu
(S.Popescu at bristol.ac.uk) quoting reference number 16756, to arrive by
the closing date. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that
the reference letters are received by the closing date. Please also
note that your referees do not have to include your current or most
recent Head of Department or Line Manager as stated on the application
form.
