Below, several announcements that you may find of interest.

POSTDOCTORAL POSITION AVAILABLE AT Columbia University (New York)

A postdoctoral position in the field of Quantum Information and
Computation is available in the group of Prof. Boris Altshuler in the
Department of Physics at Columbia University, New York
(http://www.columbia.edu/cu/physics <https://webmail.unm.edu/Redirect/www.columbia.edu/cu/physics> ). This position is supported by the
Computer & Information Science & Engineering (CISE) Division of the NSF.
It assumes tight and intensive collaboration with the Quantum
Information Group at NEC Laboratories America in Princeton
(http://www.nec-labs.com/research/quantum/quantum-website <https://webmail.unm.edu/Redirect/www.nec-labs.com/research/quantum/quantum-website> ), inag
particular with Dr. Jérémie Roland and Dr. Martin Roetteler. The
research project is at the interface between Computer Science and
Quantum Physics. The target area includes (but is not limited to) the
theory of Adiabatic Quantum Optimization.

Experience with basic principles of Quantum Information Theory as well
as Computational Complexity Theory will be essential. Familiarity with
the foundations of Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Statistical Mechanics
will be useful and well appreciated.

Interested applicants should send an email with their resume to
bla at phys.columbia.edu and jroland at nec-labs.com with reference "Adiabatic
QC" in the subject line. Applicants are also encouraged to have at least
2 letters of recommendation arranged to be sent to one of these email
addresses. Initial appointment is for one year; renewal through a third
year is contingent on successful review and the availability of funding.
PhD must be completed by the time of the appointment.

Consideration of candidates will start on December 13, 2010 and will
continue until the position is filled.
