[MacTUG] Adding Macs to Apple School Manager that weren't bought through UW's account

I discovered that with newer Macs with Apple silicon or have the T2 chip, it is possible to add them to Apple School Manager even if they weren’t purchased through UW’s Apple account.

Mac computers (running macOS 12.0.1 or later) with Apple silicon or the Apple T2 Security Chip using Apple Configurator for iPhone can be added.

Note, one needs to have an iPhone setup with Apple Configurator and linked to ASM and MDM to do this.

Add devices from Apple Configurator to Apple School Manager

You can add the following devices using Apple Configurator to Apple School Manager, even if they weren’t purchased directly from Apple, an Apple Authorized Reseller, or an authorized cellular carrier:

  *   iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV devices using Apple Configurator for Mac.

  *   Mac computers (running macOS 12.0.1 or later) with Apple silicon or the Apple T2 Security Chip using Apple Configurator for iPhone.
