What is happening? All WCMS production sites are receiving a patch intended to fix the 500 errors that have been intermittently occurring, which had required users to clear their browser cache/cookies or switch browsers to continue to use sites.
When is this happening? The patch will be applied between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18.
What you need to do before this begins: No special preparations are required. Sites will remain available. The only change will be to the way session cookies are handled, which should have no impact on day-to-day site use.
What you need to do after the patching is complete: Restart any browser(s) you have open, to ensure the legacy cookies are cleared. Report if the issue persists.
Questions or concerns? Please submit to rt-ist-wcms at rt.uwaterloo.ca<mailto:rt-ist-wcms at rt.uwaterloo.ca> or the IST Service Desk, helpdesk at uwaterloo.ca<mailto:helpdesk at uwaterloo.ca>, ext. 44357.
