[MacTUG] Fix for MS-Word 2016 for Mac not showing Print window (Word can't print)

Hi Everyone,
This has worked for a number of people in IST and also fixed the issue each time when tried at departments I support on campus.


  1.  Open “System Preferences” and then click on “Printers & Scanners”

  1.  Click on your network printer in the left list, e.g. “ur-xerox” (or however the printer has been named on your account.)



  1.  With the printer selected at left, click on the “Options & Supplies…” button at upper-right.

  1.  Click the “Options” tab at top-center of the window.



  1.  The setting for “Finisher” likely shows “Integrated Office Finisher”.

  1.  Click the arrows at right and change the Finisher to be set at “Not Installed” from the list.

  1.  Click the “OK” button at lower-right to save the change and close the Option & Supplies window.



  1.  Repeat steps 2-7 for any additional network printers, so that all that have a Finisher option are set at “Not Installed” instead of the Integrated Office Finisher. (Not every printer will have the Finisher option available, but the newer Xerox VersaLink printers will show it.)


  1.  Close the Printers & Scanners / System Preferences window.

Then try opening a Word document and checking if the Print dialogue window will now appear once again.

Another potential fix is to set your default printer to be one that does not have the Finisher option set to use the Integrated Office Finisher.

However, if the account preference for the Default Printer is to use the “Last Printer Used” the Word print dialogue window can fail if you use a printer with the Finisher set at Integrated Office Finisher in any other application.
