Hi Don,

While I have no experience with using the thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 2 adapter and then with a thunderbolt 2 to something adapter I wouldn’t be surprised if there weren’t problems in certain cases and with certain devices.

For example, Apple does clearly state that one can not use the thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 2 adapter to connect DisplayPort or mini displayPort Displays, which might indicate problem with other displays with adapters as well. Intel however indicates the following: Thunderbolt 3 ports are fully compatible with DisplayPort devices and cables.

I am not suggesting this for ports they use a lot or for when a Thunderbolt 3 adapter is cheap (for example apple sells a $10 Thunderbolt3 to USB adapter) but for the adapters that are only occasionally used, it may make sense, even if it is not the most elegant solution. Comments?
