[MacTUG] WCMS infrastructure maintenance: Phase one – Nov 2-5

What is happening? The physical database serving the Waterloo Content Management System (WCMS) will be replaced with a virtual database.

When is this happening? This work will be broken down as follows:


·         Virtualization of Pilots, Feeds, Collaborate, and UWat (URL shortener) database servers will take place Monday, November 2 between 9:00 p.m. and midnight.

·         Virtualization of Production (live) database servers will be completed in batches, between 9:00 p.m. and midnight each night.

o   November 3, WCMS Production sites with site name in range A-C will be migrated to virtualized database.

o   November 4, WCMS Production sites with site name in range D-G will be migrated to virtualized database.

o   November 5, WCMS Production sites with site name in range H-Z will be migrated to virtualized database.
Why is this happening? This is phase one of the WCMS infrastructure improvement plan.

What is the impact? Each website will go into maintenance mode for approximately one minute as site content is migrated to the virtual database. Anyone attempting to visit a website at the exact time it is being migrated will see a message indicating the site is under maintenance.
