[MacTUG] RESOLVED: WCMS Event location issue - March 24

What is happening? A fix for the WCMS time zone issue identified on March 24 is currently being applied to WCMS production sites. All other WCMS sites will receive this fix by end of day today.

About the fix:


1.       Restored original behaviour where Events show their local time e.g. An event in Vancouver at 10:00 a.m. would show as happening at 1:00 p.m., which was the local Waterloo time equivalent. This same event now shows as happening at 10:00 a.m., the local time for the event's time zone.

2.       To avoid confusion regarding which time zone the event is being held in, the time zone abbreviation will now appear at the end of the date line e.g. Friday, April 3, 2015 - 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM EDT

3.       Removed the temporary message added March 24.

Reminder: Be sure to select the time zone closest to the location the event will be held e.g. America/Toronto for an event in Waterloo, ON.

Subject: WCMS Event location issue - March 24

What is happening? The start and end times for events entered in the WCMS where the location is in a time zone other than Eastern Standard Time (EST) are being displayed as their equivalent in EST.
Example: An event entered in WCMS as taking place in Edmonton, Alberta beginning at 8:00 a.m. is showing the start time as 10:00 a.m. (which is the time in EST).
What is the impact? All WCMS sites will be impacted. IST staff are investigating the issue. Please do not update event start and end times (unless absolutely necessary) as the team will apply a fix across all websites.
