Hi Glenn,

Sounds like the default action to handle PDFs got switched to use Adobe Acrobat. Here's how you should be able to set it back to the Firefox plugin...

1. Open Firefox.

2. Click on “Firefox” on the menu near the top-left corner of the display, and then click “Preferences…” from the drop-down list.

3. Click on the “Applications” tab (4th from left) in the Preferences window.

4. Scroll down the Content Type list to find “Portable Document Format (PDF)”

5. Set the Action to be “Use Adobe Acrobat NPAPI Plug-in, Version 11.0.09 (in Firefox)” from the drop-down list.

6. Close the Preferences window.

Subject: [MacTUG] Using the latest FireFox with FORE and acrobat reader

I have gotten a report that the latest version of FireFox ( version 33.x ) is causing problems for users of the FORE system as the .pdfs don’t open within the browser using the Acrobat plugin, but instead open outside the browser in Acrobat itself. It sounds like the standard issue/problem that has come up at several meeting.

Does anyone have a solution to this situation/configuration that they can recommend?

Thanks

Glenn Anderson
