[MacTUG] Displaying output that updates

I have a file top.csh that contains
===============
#!/bin/tcsh

/usr/bin/top
===============
which I'll be calling from a perl script with

/usr/bin/open -a /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app top.csh


I don't see a way to avoid having the file using this method.

Anyone have alternatives that don't involve even more baggage.
(I already saw quite a few suggestions using osascript.)
