[MacTUG] New Keyboard - Old OS

I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with remapping the iTunes function keys on a "Lion" keyboard
to work on a 10.6 machine. My first attempt only works if iTunes is the active application and Mute
isn't even an iTunes menu item … buried in the Output Sound Sys Prefs as far as I can tell.
The only idea I have is to build Services for them and put the shortcuts under Services General.
