[MacTUG] outlook 2011 forgetting account and calendar setting

hi tuggers,
i recently set up a user with an exchange account. 
automatic configuration went smoothly with all mailboxes and calendar events coming in.
as soon as the user logs out or shuts down and then logs back onto his machine all the setting are gone  and outlook has to be reconfigured for his exchange account.

this is a macbook pro running  10.6.7 

as a test is i set up the account on outlook on my mac.
everything went smoothly and all settings are retained even after a shutdown, restart, logoff etc.
any ideas..maybe remove and reinstall Office 2011??
