Byte Magazine has good detailed instructions on creating 10.7 Install Disks

I tried the DVD procedure and it worked fine.

In creating the disk image on your computer, they state the following:

"Caution: Do not drag this file. You risk damaging the OS X Lion install application. No dragging. Pasting only."

The above seems to be true, as I created a DVD and likely dragged the file and as a result it did not work correctly.
