[Female-math-faculty] We need Women in Math for UW Phonathon!

I hope you will consider volunteering for this year's Faculty of Math
Phonathon on the evenings of May 11th, 12th and 13th. Having
representatives from women like yourselves call the female students who are
admitted is a great way to encourage young women to pursue mathematic and
computer science. It can have a huge impact on women who are 'on the fence'
about deciding to pursue mathematics at UW.

We will make outgoing calls to students. There will be two shifts per
evening; 4 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. with supper provided from 6 to 7 p.m.
We can accommodate 15 callers per shift. If each caller makes 20 calls this
will meet our target of 1800. Calls are made from phones in the Dean's
office. Training is provided. We will match callers to students by gender
and by program of study whenever possible.

If you would like to help with this very worthwhile admissions event and
talk to potential first year students, please email Carolyn Sedore
(cwjackso at uwaterloo.ca) no later than Friday, May 7th with the day and time
you are available and whether you will join the other volunteers for supper.

More details will be sent to all volunteers on Monday, May 10th.

Please consider donating a couple hours of your time for this worthwhile
activity.

Thanks!

Fiona Dunbar
Chair, Women in Math Committee
