[Faccus] Skype for Business – Edge Upgrade – February 11

What is happening? As part of our migration to Skype for Business from Lync, our external connectivity servers (Edge) need to be upgraded to Skype for Business.
When is this happening? February 11, 10pm to February 12, 8am
What is the impact? If you connect to Skype for Business from off campus during this time, the service will not be available while the upgrade takes place. This will also affect communications with external partners.
What do you need to do? If you need to connect to Skype for Business externally during this maintenance window, you will need to be connected to the campus VPN service. Otherwise, when the maintenance is complete you will again be able to sign in externally and communicate with external users.
Additional information: This upgrade improves the external connectivity system as well as enables the ability for users to search the Skype consumer directory from within the Skype for Business client (currently only with the Office 2016 version for Windows – other client version support coming soon). This significantly improves the process to find and connect with Skype consumer users as it does not require knowing what type of Skype consumer account is used by another individual.
