[Faccus] SQL1 database maintenance - August 27

What is happening? IST staff will be moving all SQL1 databases to newer and faster infrastructure, and upgrading to SQL 2014, as was completed successfully in development in July. This is a large amount of data and will take a minimum of 6 hours to complete.



When is this happen? Saturday, August 27 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.



What is the impact? All databases on SQL1 will be down during this time. All databases will return to service by 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27. All databases may be back online before 3:00 p.m., however the maintenance window includes time for backing out of the process should an issue arise.



This process will requires:

*         copying the data to the new location

*         reconfiguring SQL1 databases to use the new data locations, and bring new servers online



What do you need to do? Application contacts, who have been notified of this work, should ensure clients are aware of the applications that will be unavailable during this maintenance period.
