[Faccus] VPN (AnyConnect) issues - February 13

What is happening? Some users are reporting issues with VPN (AnyConnect) access due to the critical security patch pushed out to academic support machines last night - https://uwaterloo.ca/information-systems-technology/news/patches-feb-13.

What is the impact to users? This issue is affecting VPN users globally on Windows 8.1 (they will receive a "Failed to initialize connection subsystem" error) and users on Windows 7 with Internet Explorer 11.

What do users need to do? The issue has been escalated to Microsoft. Microsoft is responsible for issuing a patch for this issue. We will push the patch out as soon as it becomes available. If users need to connect via VPN they can log in to https://cn-vpn.uwaterloo.ca/+CSCOE+/logon.html using Firefox and click AnyConnect, Start AnyConnect (administrator credentials will be required).
