[Faccus] BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) maintenance – October 28

What is happening? IST will be performing maintenance on the BlackBerry Enterprise Service (BES) server that provides email and calendar synchronization services to BlackBerry 10 mobile devices on Connect.

Why is this happening? Along with routine maintenance, an update to the BES software will be performed. The update from BlackBerry provides enhanced support for newer BlackBerry desktop software and devices running 10.3 or later.

When is this happening?  Tuesday, October 28 - 10:00 pm to 12:00 midnight

What is the impact? The maintenance and upgrade will require server restarts which may result in delays in message delivery. While a two hour window is being set aside for the maintenance, message delivery delays will occur only during server restarts (1-2 minutes) and during the software upgrade (approximately 15 minutes). Messages received during the service down time will be synchronized/delivered to the device when the service resumes.
