[Faccus] Restriction on mailservices accounts using Connect

Only people with valid Connect accounts can send email via Connect servers. If you do not have a Connect email account but have setup your mobile device and/or IMAP client to send email through the Connect server then you need to be aware of the immediate restriction being implemented:
What is happening? Sending email via Connect email servers is being restricted to those with Connect accounts. This new restriction may require some non-Connect (e.g. mailservices) users to review their local email settings.
When is this happening? Tuesday, September 2nd morning.
Why is this happening? Up to now, Connect has allowed users to send email if they provided valid University of Waterloo credentials (username and password). Unfortunately, a number of compromised account credentials have been used by spammers to send email via Connect. This has the potential to adversely affect the reputation of Connect with Blacklisting services. To reduce that risk, we are restricting the ability to send email from Connect servers to those credentials associated with accounts on Connect.
What is the impact? If you have an account on Connect, you will not be impacted by this change. Some people who do not have Connect accounts have set up their mobile devices and IMAP clients to send email through Connect. These connections are now being detected and denied. These users will not be able to send email until they update their configuration to route email using a server where they have an account. For many, this means updating their configuration to use Mailservices as the outgoing email server. Users should refer to the Mailservices client configuration page<https://uwaterloo.ca/information-systems-technology/services/email/student-email/how-set-email-client> for details or contact their campus IT Service Desk.
