[Faccus] Internet Explorer (IE) patch to fix critical vulnerability – August 12

What is happening: An Internet Explorer (IE) patch, MS14-051, has been released for all academic support computers to fix a critical vulnerability. Full details on it can be found at  https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/security/MS14-051 .

Why is this happening: This patch was ‘fast-tracked’ to get it out to academic support computers as it addresses a critical security flaw.

When is this happening? This patch was released this afternoon August 12 .

What do you need to do? Users will need to reboot their machines to get the patch.  To check to see if the patch was applied, open Internet Explorer > Help menu > About Internet Explorer > check for (KB 2976627) next to the version number.
