[Faccus] Internet Explorer (IE) patch to fix critical vulnerability – July 8

What is happening: An Internet Explorer (IE) patch, MS14-037, has been released for all academic support computers to fix a critical vulnerability. Full details on it can be found at https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2975687.



Why is this happening: This patch was ‘fast-tracked’ to get it out to academic support computers as it addresses a critical security flaw.


When is this happening? This patch was released early this morning – July 8.



What do you need to do? Users will need to reboot their machines to get the patch.  To check to see if the patch was applied, open Internet Explorer > Help menu > About Internet Explorer > check for (KB 2975687) next to the version number.
