Reminder: Wi-Fi automated email alerts start today. Wi-Fi is an important and widely used service, we need to make sure users are aware of connection issues with their device and help them correct those issues.
What is happening? Automated email alerts to owners of Wi-Fi devices that are giving authentication errors have been activated (see sample email below).
When is this happening? Email alerts started today, Tuesday February 4.
An automated email will be sent once per hour per device experiencing a connection issue during that time. Email alerts will end once the issue has been resolved or the device no longer tries to connect.
Why is this being done? To make users aware of configuration and other problems on their W-Fi devices that are affecting their user experience.
What is the impact? Wi-Fi users experiencing authentication problems connecting will be sent an email describing the problem, and where to get help.
How will they receive that e-mail, if their device can't connect? The next time they connect to their email via home/school/work internet or phone they will see the email and be able to troubleshoot the connection issue on the device in question.
Troubleshooting tips and connection guides can be found at Connecting to the eduroam wireless network<https://uwaterloo.ca/information-systems-technology/services/eduroam-wireless-network/connecting-eduroam-wireless-network>.
