[Faccus] BlackBerry Enterprise Service outage during upgrade - Nov 6

What is happening? IST will be upgrading the server that provides connectivity for BlackBerry 10 devices, the BlackBerry Enterprise Service (BES).

When is this happening? Wednesday, November 6  between 8 a.m. and 8:15 a.m.

Why is this being done? The BES server hardware must be upgraded in preparation for a BES software upgrade planned for mid-to-late November (more details and timing regarding the software upgrade will be sent closer to the date).

How does this impact you? If you use a Z10 or Q10 device activated on the University of Waterloo BES 10 server:

*         You may not be able to send or receive email on your device during the upgrade window.

*         Email received during the upgrade window that could not be delivered will be delivered to your device after the hardware upgrade is finished.

*         Email messages that you compose and send on your device during the upgrade window may fail to send and may need to be sent again.


IST will send a reminder message to the device of impacted users the morning of November 6, prior to the upgrade.
