What is happening? A PIN will no longer be used to access files sent via Sendit. Instead, Sendit users will have the option to set their own password on file transactions. Sendit will not be available to users while this change is being made.

Why is this happening? This change will offer Sendit users an option that enhances the security of file transfers. Transactions can be password protected, and unlike the existing PIN option, the password is not contained in the email the recipient receives.

When is this happening? Sendit will be unavailable October 2, 2013 between 7:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.

Have you sent a file with a PIN that has yet to be retrieved? Any files sent using a PIN that have not yet been received by the recipient after October 2 at 9 a.m. will still be valid, and will not need to be resent. The PIN will not be required to access these file transactions.

Additional information regarding this change: Revised Sendit documentation will be available on October 2, 2013 at http://ist.uwaterloo.ca/sendit/.
