Seminar about Google’s Developer Products
Wesley Chun, a developer advocate at Google, will be speaking about Google's developer tools which may be useful for faculty/researchers/lecturers as well as university CIO/CTO/IT staff. The public is generally aware of Google’s consumer products such as search, YouTube, Android, etc., but not Google’s developer products where programming is involved. University staff who build apps that help the school operate, have web/mobile apps within their course curricula, research in the cloud and/or big data, etc., may be interested in hearing about Google’s APIs (which are typically at low or no cost). Wesley is a software engineer, not part of sales, marketing, nor business development, so there won't be any "sales pitch."
WESLEY J. CHUN, MSCS, is the author of Prentice Hall's bestselling "Core Python" (corepython.com) book series, the "Python Fundamentals" companion video lectures, co-author
of "Python Web Development with Django" (withdjango.com), and has written for Linux Journal, CNET, and InformIT. He has over 25 years of programming, teaching, and writing experience,
including more than a decade of Python. While at Yahoo!, Wesley helped create Yahoo!Mail & Yahoo! People Search using Python. He has also held technical positions at Sun, Cisco, EMC,
HP, and Rockwell. As a teacher, Wesley has delivered courses at Google, Cisco, VMware, Hitachi, UC Santa Barbara, UC Santa Cruz, and makes frequent appearances on the global
conference circuit. He holds degrees in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Music from the University of California. Wesley is currently a Developer Advocate at Google leading the
academic focus for its global Developer Relations team.
