Hi faculty computer reps!

Any PCs using IST's WSUS<http://windows.uwaterloo.ca/security/wsus/wsus.asp> will be affected by this IE9 update as well. Just thought I would forward what we have sent to the academic-support computer reps in case you are interested for your communication.

Subject: IE9 is coming to your Windows 7 PC soon

Is your PC running Windows 7? If so...

Internet Explorer (IE) version 9 will be installed remotely sometime soon on your PC starting Monday, August 20th. This version will replace IE 8.

What's new?
* Minimalist approach to the interface. Now only one toolbar appears above the browsing area although you can display more by right-clicking in the toolbar area.
* 'Home' 'Favorites' 'Tools' buttons now at the top right.
* Printer? - access from the Tools button (or Ctrl-P keys).
* 'Search' directly in the Address bar, which is the same place where you type a website address.
* Look for the 'Refresh', 'Stop', 'Search' buttons in the Address bar.
*         Enlarged 'Back' button.
* Tab browsing now appear next to the Address bar but you can move below.
* 'Pin' sites to your Windows 7 taskbar that you visit regularly by simply dragging its tab to the taskbar.
* Check for the new Notification bar that appears at the bottom of the window. This provides status information, for example, when downloading a file.

Compatibility View for webpages designed for an older browser
* If, for some reason, the browser window is not displaying properly, check to see if there's a 'Compatibility View' button you can click. This button should appear in the Address bar.
