Topic: Active Directory Consolidation Project
Date: Friday June 24
Time: 9:00 am to 9:45 am
Room: MC 2009
Speaker: Erick Engelke

The active directory consolidation project will simplify the campus into a single active directory for teaching and administration purposes. The existing ADS and Nexus active directories will be merged into one active directory. The consolidated active directory will contain all users on campus, it will serve about 6,000 workstations. Database and other systems like SharePoint will use it to manage userids, passwords and groupings.

Before the completion date of spring 2012, the project will involve most areas of IST, and also the changes to nexus will affect IT staff in the faculties. A design of the new Active Directory is complete and currently we are moving toward consolidating users into the destination system. Several milestones are anticipated in the next few months.

This seminar will review the design and provide an opportunity for input from IT staff on campus. A similar seminar was held at WNAG and will be held for UCIST and CTSC.
