SharcNet (Shared Hierarchical Academic Research Computing Network)  is a consortium of 11 Ontario institutions, including the University of Waterloo. SharcNet allows scientists to employ extremely powerful computers to tackle complex scientific problems.

In this seminar, Adam will cover the following topics:

*         why researchers are asking for super computing resources, as well as descriptions of what types of programs they are trying to run.
*         where researchers (or other) need to go to get an account, to access supercomputing in Canada.
*         where SHARCNET and other consortium have a presence in Canada.
*         what it is that they are accessing (what a cluster is, what we have, etc)
*         how researchers pick the cluster that they need for their research, and access the machines
*         who to contact for help in SHARCNET
