Topic: Workflows and Forms in SharePoint 2010
Date: Friday April 16, 2010
Time: 9:00 am - 9:45 am
Room: MC 2009
Speaker: Beth Jewkes, Associate Dean of Computing, Engineering

In this presentation, you will see an overview of workflows and forms in Sharepoint (SP) 2010 . Aside from its four built-in workflows, SP 2010 can run more complex workflows that are developed in Sharepoint Designer (SD) or Visio. SD builds workflows with "conditions" and "actions" via a set of drop-down menus that are linked to Sharepoint items, columns, lists or sites.

The forms functionality in SP 2010 has been expanded to include "reusable" or "site based" forms, which can be deployed on content types beyond the "form library" of SP MOSS. MS Infopath is the primary tool used to build and edit forms for SP sites. Browser-enabled forms in SP 2010 provide a more consistent user experience than with SP MOSS.

This presentation will begin with a short overview of Sharepoint 2010 workflows, but will focus on a demonstration of how SD is used to build a sample workflow, and then how MS Infopath can be used to enhance the form used by the workflow.
