New RT System: The Request Tracker (RT) system is used by IST and many other areas on campus for tracking problems and resolutions to a variety of issues/requests. To keep current and to take advantage of new features, IST is upgrading RT to version 3.8.2 (current version is 3.6.7). This seminar will demo the new version and point out some new features. (Note that the client forms web site to submit requests will not change.)

Internet Kiosks Revisted: Secure Linux-based Internet kiosks have been operating in the Student Life Centre and Tatham Centre since 2005. The initial efforts were pioneering in the technology, being custom remasters of Knoppix and later Damn Small Linux "live CDs". The kiosks are now much more customizable and maintainable, having been moved to the Debian Live development framework. We will take a brief look at what they do and how they are built.
