Over the past few years instructors at the University of Waterloo have been using clickers, or personal response systems (PRS), to engage students in their classes. The clicker system consists of a "remote control" device used by the student to submit responses to questions posed in class, and a receiver, operated by the instructor, that collects the responses. The student responses are tabulated at the receiver end, and the results summary is immediately available.

Over this past summer UW standardized on one system, the iClicker, to better provide support and reduce student costs. Staff from the Centre for Teaching Excellence, IST, and the Bookstore are involved in the support. This seminar will demonstrate the iClicker, how it is set up and used in the e-classroom, and also how clicker response results can be transferred to UW-ACE to become part of the course grade.
