Thanks again, Daniel!

Two quantum information postdoctoral fellowships available at Stanford University:

Position 1:

The Stanford Institute for Theoretical Physics (SITP) invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar position in quantum information science. Areas of interest include core quantum information subjects such as algorithms, communication and fault-tolerance, in addition to connections with other branches of physics. The research group is led by Patrick Hayden, with active participation by other SITP researchers Xiao-Liang Qi (condensed matter), Steve Shenker (high energy theory) and Lenny Susskind (high energy theory).

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to interact with the many other Stanford researchers whose work intersects with quantum information, including: Dan Boneh (post-quantum cryptography), Sean Hartnoll (high energy theory), Mark Kasevich (quantum metrology), Benjamin Lev (quantum matter), Hideo Mabuchi (quantum control), Monika Schleier-Smith (atomic physics) and Jelena Vuckovic (electrical engineering).

A curriculum vitae, publication list, statement of research interests and three letters of recommendation are required. Applications should be submitted through Academic Jobs Online at http://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/6559.

Review of applications will begin on December 1, 2015.

Applicants are also encouraged to apply for the It from Qubit Fellowship if their interests intersect with quantum field theory and quantum gravity.

Position 2:

Stanford University invites applications for the 2016 Nano- and Quantum Science and Engineering Postdoctoral Fellowships. We seek candidates with research interests at the interface between engineering and physical sciences, in particular in the area of nano- and quantum science and engineering. We are especially looking for candidates who will build a clear bridge between physical sciences and engineering applications.

Candidates are encouraged to contact faculty members from the participating departments (Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, and Physics) to discuss possible research areas prior to submitting an application. The initial appointment includes 2 years of support with an annual salary of approximately $60,000 and benefits.

Applications and supporting credentials must be submitted through: Academic Jobs Online (https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/6478)

Candidates should upload their curriculum vitae, publication list, two page research statement, and arrange to have three letters of reference submitted online. For queries, please contact Teresa Nguyen (teresan at ee.stanford.edu). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled, but candidates whose applications and supporting materials including letters are all uploaded by December 18, 2015 will be fully considered.

Appointments are expected to begin on or around Autumn/Winter, 2016. It is expected that at least two fellowships will be awarded.

Eligibility: For consideration, candidates must have completed a PhD degree by September 1, 2016. The fellowship is open to US Citizens or international candidates. Candidates from groups that are under-represented in their disciplines, including women, ethnic minorities and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
