Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce the first International Summer School on Near-Term Quantum Algorithms organized by the AlgoLab, the quantum computing platform at Institut Quantique, Université de Sherbrooke.

The school will take place at the Jouvence resort next to Mount Orford in Québec from June 2nd to 14th 2024.

A mix of hands-on workshops with a pedagogical focus as well as presentations from a host of renowned researchers will be featured during this unique summer school - see the attached flyer for the list of lecturers.

Kindly fill out all sections of the application form<https://forms.gle/BYp47nMC5Bnxs8WT6> to be considered.

The application deadline is March 15th. Selected applicants will be informed of their admission by the 29th of March and provided with registration details at that time.

About the International Summer School on Near-Term Quantum Algorithms
The two-week program will focus on teaching quantum and hybrid algorithms targeting NISQ hardware. The attendees will be looking to take their first steps in practical quantum programming on currently available systems, with the goal of integrating quantum computing to their research. By the end of the school, students will be familiar with the design principles of noise-resistant algorithms. They will also be able to adapt and apply those principles to their respective domain. The summer school curriculum will be officially recognized by Université de Sherbrooke as a graduate course. The goal is to bring researchers from different backgrounds together to discuss the latest advances in near-term quantum algorithms, which are currently at the heart of quantum computing. All participants, in particular students and postdocs, are encouraged to submit abstracts for scientific posters. Morning sessions will comprise of lectures and afternoon sessions will be dedicated to hands-on programming of quantum algorithms.

The school will:

  * Introduce good practice programming techniques that should be helpful for participants in a broad range of job opportunities.
  * Allow participants to spend half of the schooling time for hands-on programming.
  * Introduce various computational methods in quantum information.
  * Give in-depth introduction to a variety of quantum and hybrid algorithms used in quantum information problems.
  * Introduce participants to few current research problems in the domain of quantum and hybrid algorithms.
  * Allow participants to learn about some of Canada's leading companies in quantum computing and their technology.

Student participation
This summer school is an opportunity for students to be at the center of the event. There will be two official poster sessions during which students will present their work, but posters will be exhibited during the whole duration of the school, encouraging in-depth discussions. This is an event where questions are encouraged, free time and hands-on sessions give ample time for students to interact and network with speakers and each other. International students need to obtain a visa or to show their admission letter upon entry, depending on their country of origin. All students can register for this School as a 3 credit PhD level course with Université de Sherbrooke (45 hours of lecture, equivalent to a one-semester course).

Room and Board (In CAD, for 12 days)
(There is a $200 discount for those who register for the 3 credits PhD course)
Single occupancy with taxes: $1800
Double occupancy with taxes : $1400
Multiple occupancy with taxes : $1000
