Subject: Summer school on Quantum Information; and Conference on Quantum Information & Quantum Control

Hello, fellow travellers,

It was nice seeing all of you and discussing science, and I wish you all safe trips home.

I promised to follow up my earlier announcement with some more information about the
Canadian summer school on quantum information, to be held at the Fields Institute in
Toronto in the second week of August .... and the Conference on Quantum Information &
Quantum Control to be held at the same venue the following week.
I apologize if you receive multiple messages about this over the next little while (though to
be honest, I will be more concerned if you don't receive multiple messages about it...)

I will be very grateful if you could spread the word to any students or postdocs who might
be interested, and if you are able & willing, to forward the announcement to other members of the
QI community who might have interested group members.

The web site is http://www.fields.utoronto.ca/programs/scientific/15-16/CSSQI/ – a screen shot follows
below, suitable for advertising the meeting.

For those of you unfamiliar with it, I quote from the conference prospectus:
The Canadian Summer School on Quantum Information (CSSQI) is an annual meeting that serves
the Canadian and international quantum information science community and has become a central
component of Canada's world-leading role in quantum information research and training.
This year will mark the 15th annual CSSQI, which will be held at the Fields Institute at the
University of Toronto, from Monday, August 10 to Friday, August 14, 2015, the week before the
Conference on Quantum Information & Quantum Control (CQIQC). CQIQC is a biennial workshop
started in 2004 that brings together and fosters discussion among experts and junior researchers
from around the world in all aspects of quantum information and control. We believe that the
combination of these two back-to-back events at the Fields Institute will build on the excellent
traditions of both meetings.
The first CSSQI was held in Toronto in 2001. The summer school has now become an annual
Canadian event that brings together students from around the world, and especially from Canada, to
learn about quantum information processing. Previous editions of the school have been held in
Guelph, Calgary, Montreal, Sherbrooke, and Waterloo. The 15th school will cover the fundamentals
of quantum information processing, and shed light on critical developments and the associated
technologies that affect our current understanding and ability to modify, store, transfer, and code
information.

Registration for the summer school will open in early June.

Registration fees will be $120 CAD. Participants will also be able to arrange accommodation at a University of Toronto residence on a first-come, first-serve basis.

We have reserved 40 spaces for students based on double occupancy, available at approximately $25/night on a first-come-first-serve basis. For additional housing options, visit http://www.fields.utoronto.ca/resources/housing.html#residences

Travel assistance: A limited amount of funding may be available for students in need. Please apply by July 10, 2015, as instructed at:

I also remind you of the CQIQC workshop in Toronto the following week, at which we'd love to see any you or your group members, and would always appreciate your spreading the word about:

Regards,

Aephraim
